DIABETES SUPPORT PROGRAM
If
you have been newly diagnosed with diabetes, or if you have had diabetes for
years, this program provides you with the old and new in diabetes information.
If you have been newly diagnosed with diabetes, you probably have a lot of questions. We have resources through our loan library, or one-on-one teaching and counseling with our Diabetes Support Program Coordinator. You can visit us at Platte County Public Health or call us at 322-2540 for more information and assistance.
With your primary care provider's order, we offer in-office Hemoglobin A1c testing. You do not need an appointment for this test. Just stop by the public health office in Wheatland, and we will be glad to help. We do have a $30.00 fee for this test, and we do not bill insurance. For more information on Hemoglobin A1c testing visit our FAQ site.
There
is also a monthly Diabetes Support Group meeting. We meet every 3rd
Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Platte County Public Library (downstairs). This
support group has many members and is open to the public. There are free
educational materials at each meeting and professional speakers who educate
members on a range of different topics that relate to diabetes management.
Our current events page will list the specific date of each monthly meeting and
if it is cancelled for any reason.
Platte County Public Health also has an annual Diabetes Health Fair. Check out our current events page for specific information on events that may interest you.
